    Inhalt

This course covers selected topics of climate science with a focus on data science and data visualization aspects of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assessment reports. This should lead to a more solid understanding of ...

    – what we know about global warming
    – the extrapolation of emissions
    – climate models
    – the impact of global warming on precipitation (floods, fires)
    – sea level rise
    – potential responses to global warming

At the beginning of the course, small teams (2-3 students) are formed. Each team chooses a topic area for which it then prepares a presentation (ca. 30-45 minutes) and a seminar paper (ca. 15-20 pages), based on a set of scientific publications corresponding to the particular topic.

The course type 'seminar' offers an introduction to scientific work. Students learn this by reading and understanding state-of-the-art scientific literature about a chosen topic.
